First Federal Credit Union

Fraud Text Alerts

New Free Fraud Text Alerts Available July 31!

Dear First Federal Member,
Beginning July 31, 2026, First Federal Credit Union members will have access to a new fraud protection service—Premium Text Messaging Fraud Alerts—at no cost.

This service provides real-time text alerts when potentially suspicious activity is detected on your First Federal debit or credit card. The alert will include basic information about the transaction and ask whether
you recognize it. Simply reply “yes” if the transaction is yours or “no” if you did not authorize it.

If you confirm the transaction, the system will record your response and allow you to continue using your card. If you indicate that the transaction is fraudulent, the system will automatically take steps to block
additional activity and help protect your account.

How to recognize a legitimate fraud alert
Authentic fraud alerts:

  • Will come from a short, five-digit number, known as a shortcode.
  • Will ask for a simple “yes” or “no” response.
  • Will not contain a clickable link.
  • Will never ask for your full account number, PIN, online banking password, Social Security number or other sensitive information.

Fraudsters sometimes impersonate financial institutions. If you receive a suspicious message, do not click a link or provide personal information. Instead, contact First Federal directly at 319.743.7806 or by using
the telephone number on the back of your card.

To receive these alerts, please make sure First Federal has your current mobile telephone number. You can review your contact information through online banking or contact us for assistance.

There is no charge from First Federal for this service, although standard text messaging and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply.
We are pleased to offer this additional layer of protection as part of our commitment to keeping your accounts safe.

Sincerely,

Tom Chalstrom, CEO
