In the Community:
First Federal employees are joining in on building our community. Each of our employees is involved in our schools, our churches, our community organizations, and our youth activities as part of an effort to build our communities. Keep checking back to see some of our different activities!
First Federal Credit Union and the Cedar Rapids Kernels have created the HomeRun for Hunger program, a collaborative initiative to support the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP). HomeRun for Hunger volunteers from First Federal and the Cedar Rapids Kernels will pick up food donations from vendors near the end of each Downtown Farmers’ Market where items will then be donated to HACAP.
Our First Federal team worked hard during the United Way Day of Caring! The work site was Camp Courageous where we removed rock and spread mud/dirt to get ready for a new lawn! What a day!

First Federal’s recipient of our 2016 Volunteer Award, Shannon Wright, was awarded $500 to donate towards an organization related to her involvement in the community! Shannon presented $500 to Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity and Habitat’s Executive Director, Jeff Capps. Shannon continues to volunteer in the Restore and serve on the Restore’s Board of Directors!
Tracy Folkmann, First Federal’s recipient of our 2016 Volunteer Hours Award, was given $500 to donate towards an organization related to her involvement in the community! Tracy donated $500 to Horizons, A Family Service Alliance after volunteering a majority of her volunteer hours in the kitchen at Horizons!

In October, First Federal employees celebrated Columbus Day by visiting Horizons, a non-profit agency in Cedar Rapids that works with families in a variety of circumstances. First Federal employees helped prepare meals for the Meals on Wheels program and then worked in the Horizons garden!
