First Federal Credit Union Foundation Scholarship

Overview

First Federal Credit Union Foundation an annual Academic Scholarship Program for graduating high school seniors who are members, or a parent/guardian is a member, in good standing at First Federal Credit Union.

The purpose of these scholarships is to recognize members of First Federal Credit Union who have demonstrated scholastic excellence and who are interested in advancing their education at an accredited community college, trade school, technical college or university. Two $1,000 non-renewable scholarships will be awarded to qualified student(s). Applicants may qualify for only one award. The scholarship application period for the 2024 school year will begin February 15, 2024 and end April 1, 2024.

 

Eligibility

  1. Scholarship applicants, or a parent/guardian in the same household, must have an account established and be a member in good standing for at least one year at First Federal Credit Union.
  2. Entrants must be classified as a high-school senior and be accepted as an incoming freshman at an accredited community college, trade school, technical college or university.

Entrants must complete an application available online at FirstFedCU.com/Scholarship.  Entrants must complete the entire application including a response to the following question:

Selection Criteria

Entrants will be judged based on grade point average, high school honors and awards, high school activities, community activities and volunteer work, leadership positions held in organizations or groups, with consideration for employment held during high school.  Entrants’ response to the required question will be considered in conjunction with the other named criteria. Finalists may be contacted for an in-person or Zoom interview to discuss their application. 

 

Notification of Recipient

The selected recipient of the scholarship will be notified by April 30, 2023, unless extended by the Foundation.  Recipients will receive an award letter and a Request for Scholarship that will include instructions for payment of the scholarship to the recipient’s chosen school.

 

Administrative Rules and Procedures

Selected winner must be enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited community college, trade school, technical college or university and provide First Federal Credit Union with written verification of full-time enrollment before funds can be released.

Scholarship funds will be paid in its entirety directly to the institution in the name of the recipient within two weeks of submitting the Request for Scholarship.

If the recipient decides later not to attend post-graduate school or becomes ineligible per the guidelines outlined herein, he/she must forfeit the scholarship funds.

Scholarship funds will be used for tuition reimbursement only.

Selected recipient must begin studies within one year of the date of written notification of the scholarship award.
